First female equity partner named at Owen Hodge Lawyers
Sydney-based boutique Owen Hodge Lawyers has named a new director, who is set to be the firm’s first female equity partner.
Kristy-Lee Burns (pictured) has been appointed as the first female equity partner at Owen Hodge Lawyers, a firm she joined in 2018 and has served as head of the family law department for the last five years.
In a statement, the firm said that Ms Burns’ legal knowledge, communication skills and life experience, together with her ability to relate and connect with people in challenging times, assist her in building and maintaining excellent client relationships and ongoing referrals.
“Whether it is a complex property settlement involving third parties, businesses and trusts, a commercial or estate dispute, Kristy-Lee has the knowledge and expertise to identify the key legal issues whilst advocating in your best interests for a just and equitable result,” the firm said.
Owen Hodge Lawyers was founded in 1951 and now has offices in Sydney City, Hurstville, Oran Park, and Turramurra. The firm recently incorporated, which will make Ms Burns one of three partners alongside Rolf Howard and Roger Harkin, as well as a member of the board of directors.
Speaking about the appointment, firm managing partner Rolf Howard said: “Kristy-Lee is an exceptional lawyer, leader, and champion for our clients; she is the perfect person to step into this role. She has an innate ability to relate to people, connect with them during difficult times, and advocate for their needs, always achieving just and equitable results for our clients.”
“Kristy-Lee is also a natural leader, having long been a mentor and role model for young solicitors in our firm. Kristy-Lee brings a fresh perspective to the Owen Hodge Lawyers management team and represents the future of the firm.”
Ms Burns added: “I feel very privileged to be able to take this next step with a firm I love that has been such an important part of my life for the last five years.”
“I’m looking forward to continuing to grow our important work in the family law space, especially with clients with complex needs which intersect with commercial law, and collaborating with our amazing team to secure the very best results for our clients.”
