JWS appoints partner, special counsel for IR, employment team
National law firm Johnson Winter Slattery has appointed two senior associates from BigLaw rival Corrs Chambers Westgarth, who are joining as a partner and special counsel.
Alexis Agostino and Charlotte Fenton (both pictured) have joined JWS in the firm’s industrial relations and employment practice. The pair have come over from Corrs, where they both served as senior associates.
Agostino, whom JWS described as an experienced litigator, representing clients in significant first instance and appellate proceedings in the Fair Work Commission and Federal Court of Australia, is joining as a new partner. She started in her new role yesterday (4 November) in Melbourne, and she is set to relocate to Perth in the new year.
Fenton is joining as a special counsel, bringing experience including advising on IR issues and employment disputes, as well as protections claims, terminations and other general employment matters. She will be based in the firm’s Brisbane office, and she starts next Monday (11 November).
The news follows JWS’ appointment of a banking and finance partner from Baker McKenzie in October, a TMT partner from HSF in August, and a special counsel for its real estate in the same month.
Speaking about the appointments, JWS managing partner Jeremy Davis said: “Alexis is highly regarded in the IR space with strong relationships with a number of major mining and oil and gas companies. She is a welcome addition to the JWS partnership.
“Similarly, Charlotte has a great reputation and is known for providing outstanding client service. The appointment of Alexis and Charlotte further expands the firm’s industrial relations and employment capability.”
Agostino said: “JWS has deep connections to the energy and resources sector and a very strong IR/employment team, providing me with a great platform to take a market-leading role in the IR space.”
