Every day, LexisNexis said in a statement, legal professionals “get frustrated” spending time switching between windows, applications and add-ins when drafting legal documents, constantly having to refocus on the task in hand.

“From checking sources, finding clauses, or reviewing formatting – every context switch is distracting and inefficient,” it submitted.

“Lexis Create was developed to enable lawyers to work smarter by putting everything they need to write effective legal documents, all in one hub.”

Using the platform, the provider continued, lawyers can: build their documents from a library, check for errors to eliminate risk, and complete their documents quickly and deliver exceptional client service.

“Lexis Create is a powerful new platform that makes legal drafting easier, delivering the muscle of LexisNexis to the lawyers’ fingertips. Pairing legal content with powerful editing and proofreading tools, Lexis Create lets lawyers draft, check, redact and complete documents without ever leaving the Microsoft environment,” the provider outlined.

It is available for law firms and in-house teams of all sizes, LexisNexis noted, and has been built as a native app for integration within Microsoft Office applications.

“Precedents, clauses, smart legal proofreading tools, DocuSign® integration and a wealth of legal intelligence [are] all instantly accessible from within the Microsoft environment,” the provider proclaimed.

LexisNexis head of local online solutions Lindsay O’Connor (pictured) said: “At LexisNexis, our goal is to equip lawyers so they can work smarter and more effectively. Lexis Create ensures that they get the maximum return from the time and energy they put into document creation.

“Over the last 18 months, our customers have shifted from the law office to the home office, with the one constant being Microsoft Office.

“Lexis Create reduces context switching with an architecture based in Microsoft Word. This design allows Lexis Create to be unobtrusive yet ever-present in a lawyer’s workspace, it is always there to help build, check and complete legal documents.”

Last week, Ms O’Connor appeared on The Lawyers Weekly Show to discuss the myriad issues and challenges that lawyers and legal teams face with drafting and why the utilisation of better technology will be so critical to success moving forward. To listen to that episode, click here.
