The new boutique firm seeks to address a market need for specialised legal services tailored for senior executives and corporate clients who need help navigating the intricate challenges of employment and discrimination law.

Before embarking on this venture, Marks and Pritchard served at various BigLaw firms. Marks formerly worked at Herbert Smith Freehills, while Pritchard worked at Mallesons Stephen Jacques (now known as King & Wood Mallesons). Following this, they worked at Harmers Workplace Lawyers, with Marks having served as a founding partner and a general counsel, while Pritchard was chief operating officer and executive counsel.

In discussing this new undertaking, Marks articulated that, with their extensive experience in the field, they decided to embark on this new initiative to meet the demand for specialised legal services within the employment and discrimination domain.

“Emma and I decided to continue our collaboration by founding Marks Pritchard. We have a similar legal perspective and enjoy working together.

“After decades of experience in employment and discrimination law, we saw a need for specialised legal services in this area, working closely with senior executives and corporate clients to achieve their commercial and workplace goals,” said Marks.

Pritchard shared that their combined experience in navigating both aspects of employment law equips them with a distinctive perspective, which enhances their capacity to achieve optimal outcomes for their clients.

“Our extensive experience in representing both sides in an employment dispute gives us a unique insight into the objectives of each party. This allows us to effectively achieve the best outcomes for our clients, whether through discreet negotiations or, if necessary, engaging in hard-fought litigation,” Pritchard said.

Looking ahead to 2025, Marks Pritchard also indicated their readiness to address the challenges presented by the evolving legal landscape, particularly in light of the new legislative amendments scheduled to take effect this year.
