Julie Bishop joins with Coleman Greig in celebrating women
Western Sydney law firm Coleman Greig has once again thrown its support behind women in business, this time at a lunch event in honour of International Women’s Day that featured the Honourable Julie Bishop MP.
Reflecting on this year’s International Women’s Day theme of Balance for Better, Coleman Greig’s sold out event featured a keynote presentation from the former foreign minister, delivering insight into Ms Bishop’s career journey from commercial lawyer and Clayton Utz partner to foreign minister and deputy leader of the Liberal party.
For Coleman Greig’s principal, and the lunch’s MC, Caroline Hutchinson, “having the opportunity to hear Ms Bishop speak about her experiences was fascinating – particularly in light of recent events”.
“She is certainly a noteworthy advocate, not just for women, but also for finding a genuine balance between female and male representation within the workplace,” Ms Hutchinson considered, noting her presentation aligned perfectly with the International Women’s Day theme.
The event incorporated the Western Sydney University’s Women of the West Awards into the program, showcasing “some of Western Sydney’s most outstanding high-achievers, with the University’s deputy vice-chancellor (academic) Professor Denise Kirkpatrick announcing Azita Abdollahian, Padmini Howpage, Jodie Amor and Matilda Harry as award winners.
Coleman Greig also championed its support of charity Grace’s Place on the day, raising more than $21,000 for the group, which will soon construct a residential and counselling facility in the Western Sydney area “to provide a unique place of healing and restoration for children traumatised by homicide”, the firm said.
Previous keynote speakers at Coleman Greig Women in Business events have included Rugby Australia CEO Raelene Castle, and former Australian tennis star Jelena Dokic.
