Jonathan Lawe Davies will become part of the Perth office of Corrs Chambers Westgarth as a special counsel.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr Davies was the director of Clarion IP as well as the managing director of Iperative Pty Ltd, a group that commercialises patent rights.

Mr Davies has also worked in the corporate sector, previously holding the general counsel role at ASX-listed IP company Ipernica Ltd and technology provider Nearmap, as well as a corporate counsel role at Amazon.co.uk.

Mr Davies' expertise lies in commercial transaction and advisory work for start-up technology and IT or IP businesses.

Corrs Chambers Westgarth has made a number of hires in recent months, including environment partner Jillian Button from Minter Ellison, special counsel Felicity Daley from AMP, and litigation partner Simon Johnson from Norton Rose Fulbright.

However, the firm has also suffered losses, including health and safety partner Jane Hall and competition partner Ayman Guirguis.
