Elizabeth Briggs, senior director – legal at PayPal Australia, and Shanaz Khan, senior legal counsel at Colonial First State, will discuss the current regulatory landscape at this year’s Corporate Counsel Summit.
The seventh annual Corporate Counsel Summit brings together over 250 in-house counsel for a jam-packed agenda full of the latest tools and strategies emerging in the industry.
Elizabeth Briggs, senior director – legal at PayPal Australia and Shanaz Khan, senior legal counsel at Colonial First State, will join Uber legal director Cameron Loughlin and Clayton Utz partner Vincent Giang for “the regulatory spotlight: navigating compliance and safeguarding your business” session at the summit.
During the session, attendees can expect to hear leaders conduct a comprehensive analysis of recent regulatory actions by ASIC, ACCC and other regulatory bodies to outline how organisations can navigate the current regulatory landscape.
The session will focus on the business implications of the regulatory actions and explore how businesses can implement effective compliance strategies to mitigate risks in the current climate.
Elizabeth Briggs, senior director – legal at PayPal Australia
Currently serving as senior director of legal at PayPal Australia, Briggs brings a wealth of experience as a financial services general counsel and group senior executive.
Her experience spans international markets, including the Asia-Pacific region, the UK, and the USA, to deliver impactful solutions in banking, insurance, superannuation, wealth management, and financial advice.
Briggs is also an accomplished company secretary, having served regulated, listed, and not-for-profit entities.
Shanaz Khan, senior legal counsel at Colonial First State
Khan is a financial services lawyer with over 20 years of experience in superannuation and funds management, currently acting as senior legal counsel at Colonial First State.
Before joining Colonial First State, she spent close to two decades at Westpac, where she gained extensive experience in advising boards and senior management on large-scale transactions, prudential regulation, and legal risk management.
Additionally, she worked with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission during the implementation of the Financial Services Reform provisions of the Corporations Act and is a member of the Law Council’s financial services committee.
