Mastercard’s head of legal to deliver keynote at 2025 Corporate Counsel Summit
In-house lawyers will learn how to be the “ethical barometer” in a keynote session with Rama Lingard, head of legal Australasia at Mastercard.
The Corporate Counsel Summit 2025 – returning for the seventh year – will unite over 250 in-house counsel to hear from the nation’s leading legal minds.
Rama Lingard, head of legal Australasia at Mastercard, joins the line-up to deliver a keynote session about balancing what is permitted under the law and the right course of action for in-house counsel.
He joins an impressive speaker line-up, including the likes of Cameron Loughlin, legal director, ANZ at Uber; Shannon Finch, group general counsel and group executive at Westpac Group; and Stuart Gregor, co-founder at Four Pillars Gin.
Lingard currently leads Mastercard’s Australasia legal team, overseeing a dynamic group of 14 Australia-based lawyers who support both Australasia and Asia-Pacific markets.
Under his leadership, the team was awarded the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Team of the Year at the 2023 Corporate Counsel Awards, also being named a finalist in 2024.
With over 25 years of in-house legal experience across asset management, investment banking, retail banking, and payment networks, Lingard has been named among Australia’s top general counsel by Legal 500 in its 2022 and 2023 GC powerlists. He was also a finalist for Technology Lawyer of the Year in 2024.
At the Corporate Counsel Summit, Lingard will draw on his quarter-century of in-house experience to illustrate the importance of in-house counsel acting as the “moral compass” of an organisation, finding the balance between what is legal and what is right.
