A senior in-house lawyer with significant governance and executive leadership experience has been appointed as the new general counsel for the City of Perth.
Michelle Antonio, whose career has been focused on risk and governance in Western Australia and also with Australian and Singaporean-listed entities, has been hired as the new GC for the City of Perth.
In addition, Ms Antonio has worked at Kott Gunning Lawyers in Perth.
City of Perth chief executive Michelle Reynolds said that Ms Antonio has successfully overseen the establishment of corporate governance reform and bolstering of the in-house legal function of listed companies, both here and abroad.
“Michelle is known for her strategy, commercial acumen and personable attitude. Her ability to design corporate governance policies to improve the organisational accountability will ensure the City of Perth is aligned with best practice,” Ms Reynolds said.
Ms Antonio’s appointment as GC is “key” for the City of Perth, she continued, noting that she was “delighted” to have such a highly qualified corporate counsel on board.
“It is testament that the City of Perth has entered a new era and many people now want to be part of this wonderful organisation and contribute to the future of our capital city,” she proclaimed.
“I take pride in being able to bring together such a strong new leadership team that are dedicated, innovative and committed to the future of the City of Perth. I’m delighted to welcome Michelle to the City of Perth.”
