Peter Horton, who is currently serving as executive manager of legal, governance and risk at TransGrid, has been appointed to the role of group general counsel at IAG.

IAG managing director and CEO Peter Harmer said he was “pleased” to welcome Mr Horton to the company.

“His considerable experience across a range of industries will enhance the way we meet our obligations, in an increasingly complex environment,” he said in a statement.

Prior to his time at TransGrid, Mr Horton was the group GC and company secretary at both QBE Insurance and Woolworths. He is also a non-executive director for Business for Development, a not for profit which “aims to reduce extreme poverty through inclusive economic growth”.

He will join IAG at the end of 2019.
