Colin Biggers & Paisley names new deputy head
National law firm Colin Biggers & Paisley has appointed a new deputy managing partner, in what the firm called “an exciting succession milestone”.
Colin Biggers & Paisley, which has nearly 500 staff, including more than 70 partners across its offices in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney, has voted Andrew Murray, a partner in the firm’s construction and engineering practice, as its new deputy managing partner.
Murray was admitted in 2000, the firm outlined, and joined CBP in 2010. He has been a partner in the firm’s construction and engineering practice since 2016. In that time, he has co-chaired the Pride@CBP group, been a longstanding member of the inclusion and diversity leadership team, chaired the partner promotion interview panel, led graduate interview panels and has been a much-admired contributor to learning and development programs.
Speaking about his new role, Murray said: “It is a privilege to be appointed to this role and to have the confidence of our partners to work with Nick and join in the leadership of our successful legal practice into the future.
“I am passionate about our people, our practice, and our clients, and committed to continuing to provide a diverse and supportive workplace in which our teams can thrive.
“I am also looking forward to leveraging the opportunities emerging technologies are bringing across the firm to deliver exceptional legal services to our clients.
“Our practice is extremely well respected across our industries of focus, and we will continue to invest in our teams and our operations to facilitate profitable growth and a strong client experience across these areas.”
Crennan said: “Succession and transition is critical to the successful leadership and momentum of a legal practice.
“I am delighted Andrew Murray has been appointed as our deputy managing partner, and look forward to working with Andrew on the transition over the next year.
“Andrew will bring humility, confidence, and strong energy to the role.
“A celebrated construction lawyer, Andrew has also been front and centre on our diversity programs and instrumental in the success of our industry-leading graduate program.”
