Dentons adds 2 employment and safety partners, including team of 9, from Kennedys
Global law firm Dentons has moved to strengthen its employment and safety offering with the appointment of two partners from BigLaw rival Kennedys, who have brought with them a team of nine.
Justin Le Blond and Persephone Stuckey-Clarke have both joined Dentons as partners, having come across from global practice Kennedys, where they have both served since November 2017, when they both came across from HWL Ebsworth.
Stuckey-Clarke, the global firm went on, advises clients in relation to the full spectrum of workplace issues arising in the employment life cycle and regularly advises on sensitive exit situations, urgent safety matters, the protection of confidential information and complex workforce change.
Elsewhere, special counsel Dominic Russell and William Slattery and senior associates Jennifer Moran and Dominic Grasso have joined the two partners at Dentons. The team is rounded out by three associates, a graduate lawyer, and a legal administration assistant, with all nine also having come from Kennedys.
The two partners and their team of nine will all start in the Sydney office of the world’s biggest firm on Monday, 4 March.
The news follows Dentons’ appointment of a special counsel from Corrs Chambers Westgarth as a new banking and finance partner in its Melbourne office in mid-February, its hiring of employment partner Edmund Burke from Holding Redlich in January, technology partner Michael Park from Allens in December, and the hiring of planning and environment partner Mitchell Osborne from AJ & Co Lawyers in Brisbane in mid-October.
The appointment of Le Blond and Stuckey-Clarke brings the number of partners in the employment and safety practice at Dentons to six nationally, as the firm moves to continually grow its presence across the country.
Speaking about the new team, Dentons Australia chair and Australasian regional chief executive Doug Stipanicev said: “Our employment and safety practice continues to go from strength to strength with the addition of Justin, Persephone and the team, a reflection of Dentons pre-empting our client’s needs.”
Le Blond added: “It’s great to be at Dentons and working alongside a well-respected team with a breadth of expertise as well as contributing to the growth of the Sydney office.
“Being part of the world’s largest global law firm will undoubtedly offer an opportunity to add to the high-value financial services work for clients.”
Stuckey-Clarke said Dentons’ employment and safety team is “rapidly expanding” and that it is a very exciting time to be joining the global player.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunities this will bring to my clients,” she said.
