Watson Farley & Williams expands its Asia-Pacific hotels and hospitality practice
International firm Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) has appointed a new special counsel to its Asia-Pacific hotels and hospitality practice based in Sydney.
Greg de Mesquita joins the firm from Squire Patton Boggs, where he held the position of senior associate.
He has a strong background advising on government and Crown land matters, as well as in transactions involving regional and rural assets.
WFW Sydney office head Robert Williams noted that the hotel hospitality sector is rebounding strongly across the Asia-Pacific region and that development and transaction activity is increasing.
The firm noted its recent successes as being evidence of the return of the sector, having closed two sell-side resort transactions in the Maldives and one hotel in Sydney’s central business district in the last month.
Mr Williams noted his excitement to welcome someone of Mr de Mesquita’s calibre to their team.
“Greg’s arrival not only deepens our senior team, but his experience also broadens our capabilities.
“Securing top-quality talent is an issue across the sector and with Greg on board, we have never been better positioned to support our clients in Australia and beyond,” he said.
