Linktree secures capital raise
The venture capital team with BigLaw firm Herbert Smith Freehills has assisted Linktree in its US$110 million capital raise.

Firm: Herbert Smith Freehills (Linktree)
Value: US$110 million capital raise at a valuation of US$1.3 billion.
Area: Finance.
Key players: The team was led by co-head of venture capital (Australia), Elizabeth Henderson with assistance from solicitors Adam Ong, Mapa Madhawa and Katherine Duong. They also worked with tax practice Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills led by Toby Eggleston.
Deal significance: Founded in 2016, Linktree is an Australian tech platform and link-in-bio tool that allows users to aggregate their online ecosystems, enabling content engagement as well as e-commerce and helping entrepreneurs, small-business owners and creators manage and develop their online presence.
The new capital will be employed to fund its continued growth and expansion. It will also see Linktree join a handful of Australian companies that have achieved “unicorn status”, including Canva, Culture Amp, Go1, Airwallex and SafetyCulture.
Ms Henderson commented: “We have so much enjoyed working with Linktree on its phenomenal growth journey since 2020, which has seen them build a platform that is ubiquitous on social media and is driving the creator economy.
“This raise is a recognition of their hard work and passion, particularly its founders Alex, Anthony and Nick, that has seen Linktree grow from strength-to-strength. It is now an Australian unicorn taking its place on the world stage.”
