Silk named as new judge of WA District Court
West Australian Attorney-General John Quigley has appointed a Perth-based barrister to the state’s District Court as a judge.

Terence Palmer SC has been appointed to fill a recently vacated judicial position, which arose from the elevation of judges Natalie Whitby and Stephen Lemonis to the state’s Supreme Court.
Prior to joining the Bar, he practised at Clayton Utz as a senior associate and was a special counsel at the corporate regulator Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
His appointment to the District Court takes effect on 31 July 2023.
A-G Quigley said: “I congratulate Terry Palmer SC on his appointment to the District Court. Mr Palmer SC is highly regarded in the legal profession and is eminently suitable for appointment as a judge of the District Court.
“He has experience in domestic and international arbitration, having appeared for a diverse range of clients in state and federal courts. Mr Palmer’s appointment will fill a recently vacated judicial position and greatly assist with the growing demands of the District Court.”
