New judges appointed to Federal Court and FCFCOA
Six new judges have been appointed to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA), with one judge appointed to the Federal Court of Australia.
The Federal Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA) have welcomed seven new judges, who commence in April and June.
Graeme Hill SC has been appointed as a judge of the Federal Court and will commence on 2 April. He was admitted as a barrister and solicitor to the Supreme Court of the ACT in 1993, before signing the Victorian Bar Roll in 2007 and being appointed senior counsel in 2021.
Additionally, Judge Anna Parker and Judge Joanne Stewart have been appointed to the FCFCOA (Division 1), both in the Adelaide registry and commencing on 2 June.
Judge Parker was admitted as a legal practitioner in the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2006 and signed the Victorian Bar Roll in 2016, practising in family law and related jurisdictions, before being appointed as a judge of the FCFCOA (Division 2) in 2021.
Judge Stewart was appointed to the then Federal Circuit Court of Australia in 2013 and has served as judge of the FCFCOA (Division 2) since 2021. She was admitted as a legal practitioner in the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1990 and signed the Victorian Bar Roll in 1992, practising in family law and related jurisdictions.
Mark Cleary, Peter Fary SC, Leigh Johns OAM, and Jane Marquard have also all been appointed as judges of the FCFCOA (Division 2). Cleary has been appointed to the Parramatta registry, Fary and Johns to the Melbourne registry, and Marquard to the Sydney registry, all commencing on 1 April.
Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus congratulated each of the new judges and commended “their willingness to serve the court and the people of Australia”.
