Following the announcement in late 2022 that the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) will be replaced with a new federal administrative review body, ART, 18 senior members and 25 general members have been proposed to the Governor-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC.

Subject to the Governor-General’s approval in the Federal Executive Council, the 43 members’ terms would commence on 14 October 2024, the same day the ART commences.

Each recommended appointee was assessed as suitable for appointment by an independent assessment panel through a transparent and merit-based process.

Attorney-General, the Honourable Mark Dreyfus KC MP congratulated the proposed appointees.

“On behalf of the Australian government, I congratulate each of these members on their proposed appointment,” he said.

The proposed senior members of the ART are Sean Baker, Katherine Bean, Alison Bellamy, Joanne Collins, Dr Bridget Cullen, Dr Denis Dragovic, Phillip French, Andrew George, Marten Kennedy, Giovanni Longo, Chelsea Lyford, Jane Marquard, Alison Murphy, Kim Parker, Kira Raif, Theodore Tavoularis, Susan Trotter, and Simon Webb.

The general members are Michael Abood, Naomi Bryant, Robert Cameron, John Cipolla, David Cosgrave, Angela Cranston, Matthew Currie, Susan De Bono, Dr Jason Donnelly, Tegen Downes, Casey Dutkowski, Shane Evans, Katherine Harvey, Edward Howard, David James, Li Luo, Brygyda Maiden, Paul Maishman, Christopher Matthies, Justin Meyer, Mark O’Loughlin, Justin Owen, Wayne Pennell, Mary Sheargold, and Susan Woodford.
