The newest senior counsel in South Australia are Stephen John White SC, Mark Alexander Roberts SC, Alison Dorinda Doecke SC, and Ryan Michael Williams SC, as announced by South Australian Chief Justice Chris Kourakis.

In a statement, the Courts Administration Authority of South Australia (CAA SA) said that senior counsel “hold important leadership positions in the legal profession”.

The appointments were made after wide consultation with the judicial officers of the state, the senior law officers of the state and the legal profession, CAA SA said.

“Criteria for selection include legal learning, experience and skill in advocacy, integrity, availability to prospective clients and independence,” the statement went on.

Kourakis CJ said that the appointment of senior counsel is a “significant event” for successful applicants, the legal profession and the South Australian community and congratulated the appointees.

“Senior counsel are leaders of the profession who adhere to the highest standards of legal excellence and integrity,” His Honour said.

“They have earned this recognition through the diligent performance of their duties to the courts and their clients.”
