Former Qld Bar president appointed to Supreme Court
Tom Sullivan KC, who was most recently the president of the Bar Association of Queensland, has been elevated to the state’s Supreme Court.
In a statement, Queensland Attorney-General Shannon Fentiman said that Mr Sullivan is “among the state’s leading construction barristers” and “was highly respected” during his tenure as Bar Association president.

Mr Sullivan went to the bar in 1995 and took silk in 2008. He is recognised for his expertise in large and complex building and construction disputes and represented national and international clients in his practice, which focused on insolvency, construction, banking and corporations law.
Speaking about the appointment, Ms Fentiman said: “I wish to congratulate Mr Sullivan on his appointment. It is a true honour — and one with great responsibility — to sit on the bench of the Supreme Court of Queensland. Mr Sullivan has already demonstrated he has the capabilities to handle those duties to the highest level.
“Mr Sullivan has a distinguished academic history, having been awarded the University Medal at the University of Queensland and a master of laws from Cambridge University, in which he took a first. Mr Sullivan has extensive legal experience, having appeared in many complex and very high-profile matters, and serving as a past president of the Bar Association of Queensland.”
