The ACT Bar Association has given congratulations to Ms Curran.

She was called to the Bar in 2012 and joined the private bar at Burley Griffin Chambers.

In 2015, she became a nationally accredited mediator and arbitrator.

She has practiced in diverse areas including family law, estates, and coronial inquests, and she has a civil practice focused on historical abuse, personal injury, and medical negligence.

Prior to coming to the Bar, she was in private practice in Canberra and Brisbane, and was a Deputy Registrar of the Family Court of Australia.

She has been on Bar Council since 2016 and has been an active member of the Bar, previously chairing the Family Law Sub-Committee and Women Barristers Subcommittee.

Ms Curran is committed to diversity and gender equity within the profession, and has stated that she is looking forward to serving the Bar in her new role.

Ms Curran succeeds Andrew Muller in the role of president.

The new Bar council was elected in September by its Class A members at an Annual General Meeting.

Ms Curran is joined on the council by several other women, including Juliet Behrens and Beth Morrisroe, who were both elected as councillors.
