The commission’s second round of public hearings resumes today, continuing to hone in on Victoria Police's dealings with ‘Lawyer X’ Nicola Gobbo between 1999 to 2003.

The public has been informed that round three will commence from Tuesday, 14 May to Friday 24 May 2019, exploring the period between 2003 to 2004.

New potential witnesses have also been named, with the RCMPI website saying that those who may be called to give evidence include:  current and former Victoria Police Stuart Bateson, Charlie Bezzina, Terry Purton, Philip Swindells, Murray Gregor, Eliza Burrows, Boris Buick, Peter Trichias, Paul Dale, Cameron Davey, George Tapai and Robert Hill.

“While the commission’s preference is to hold its hearings in public, it may be necessary to close parts of these hearings to protect the safety of certain witnesses and affected persons.

“... There is a 15-minute delay to live streaming to allow for redactions and pull backs.”
