Supreme Court welcomes appointment of Vic QC
A leading commercial barrister has joined the Supreme Court bench in Victoria.

Matthew Connock QC’s appointment to the Supreme Court of Victoria was announced by Attorney-General Martin Pakula on Tuesday, 10 April.
“I thank Justice Judd for his distinguished decade of service to the Supreme Court and his leadership of the Commercial Court, and wish him well for the future,” the AG said.
“Mr Connock is one of Victoria’s leading commercial barristers and brings significant experience to his new role as a Judge of the Supreme Court, and I congratulate him on his appointment.”
At the time his appointment was announced, the barrister was serving as a senior fellow at Melbourne University and President of the Victorian Commercial Bar Association.
Mr Connock began his legal career at Mallesons Stephen Jaques (now known as King & Wood Mallesons). After six years practising as a solicitor, he joined the bar and later took silk in 2006.
Throughout his career, the QC has appeared at royal commissions and before the High Court and the Supreme Court in every state.
With more than 25 years’ practising as a barrister, he has expertise in banking, finance, insolvency, competition, insurance, property, professional negligence and media rights law.
