Two judges join the NSW Supreme Court bench
Attorney-General Gabrielle Upton has announced the appointment of two judges to the NSW Supreme Court.

Crown Advocate Natalie Adams SC and barrister Anthony Payne SC will join the Supreme Court bench, with Mr Payne also sitting as a Judge of Appeal.
Ms Adams has practised in criminal law for the past 27 years, as a solicitor from 1989 and as a barrister from 2001. She was appointed as the Crown Advocate in 2011 and took silk in 2012.
“Ms Adams brings criminal law expertise to the bench, having served as a Crown Prosecutor for almost a decade, and now as the state’s Crown Advocate,” said Attorney-General Upton.
Mr Payne has acted in commercial litigation, and government on international commercial law matters during his 20-year career as a barrister.
He became a barrister in 1995 and was appointed as senior counsel in 2008. He served as Commonwealth Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions and was elected to the NSW Bar Council, and served as Chairman of the Finance Investment and Audit, and Education committees.
“Mr Payne’s professional experience in high-profile commercial litigation will ensure civil justice continues to be served in the NSW Supreme Court,” said Attorney-General Upton.
Ms Adams’s appointment will take effect on and from 5 April, and Mr Payne will start on 30 March.
