In a stream of new appointments, Baker & McKenzie have promoted a Lawyers Weekly awards finalist to the head of a global practice group.

Anne-Marie Allgrove (pictured), who is a finalist in the Legal Mentor category at the Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards on 17 October, will lead the firm’s global information technology and communications group over the next three years.

Allgrove is also the chair the firm’s Australian diversity & inclusion committee and the founder of the BakerWomen Program.

She recently oversaw the development of unconscious bias training throughout the firm globally.

At the firm’s London annual meeting this week Baker & McKenzie also appointed seven other global practice & industry group chairs. The meeting was attended by over 700 partners.

The chairman of the Executive Committee, Eduardo Leite, had his term extended for two years. He became the chairman in 2010.

"I am grateful for the trust the partnership has placed in me and those with whom I share leadership roles,” said Leite.

Former Australian chairman Bruce Hambrett (Singapore) was voted in as the chairman of the firm’s Asia Pacific practice.

Executive Committee members Gary Senior (London) and Jim Holloway (Toronto) were appointed as chairs of Europe, the Middle East and Africa and North America respectively.
