Adios Allion, hello Squire Patton Boggs
Squire Patton Boggs has poached a new partner, along with three other lawyers from boutique firm Allion Legal.

Simon Rear (pictured) will join Squire Patton Boggs’ corporate practice group in Perth.
Rear has experience in private and public M&A, equity capital markets and general corporate advisory work in both Australia and the UK.
Squire Patton Boggs’ Perth office has also taken senior associate Chris Rosario and associates Ben Stewart and Pasan Wijesuriya from Allion Legal.
Australia managing partner of Squire Patton Boggs John Poulsen said, “Simon and his team are the right strategic and cultural fit, and have an outstanding track record, particularly in major mining and natural resources transactions, and we are excited to welcome them to the firm.”
The firm also recently promoted Clare Pope to partner, bringing the number of corporate partners at the firm in Australia to five.
Squires launched in Australia in 2011 by opening a 15-partner office in Perth. It opened its second Australian office in Sydney in 2012.
Squire Patton Boggs is the new name for recently merged global firms Squire Sanders and Patton Boggs.
Allion Legal recently acquired some partners of its own; Lisa Merryweather left Arnold Bloch Leibler to join Allion’s Sydney office as a principal in June.
