Step up for Minters man
A special counsel has abandoned Minter Ellison to become a partner in HWL Ebsworth’s restructuring and insolvency team in Perth.

Richard Johnson (pictured) has joined HWL’s partnership after 11 years at Minter Ellison. In that time he worked in all areas of corporate insolvency and reconstruction, including receivership, voluntary administration, deed of company arrangement and liquidation.
Johnson is the latest addition to HWL Ebsworth’s expanding team. Yesterday (1 July), HWL Ebsworth finalised its acquisition of Adelaide boutique Kelly & Co and gained an additional 14 partners and 44 legal staff.
Johnson is the firm’s 25th lateral partner hire for 2014 and follows hot on the heels of Kelly Alcorn’s move to HWL Ebsworth from Holding Redlich earlier this month (23 June).
HWL Ebsworth currently operates in six cities in Australia with 187 partners and 425 other legal staff.
"Our objective is to develop one of the major restructuring and insolvency practices in Western Australia”, said Juan Martinez, HWL Ebsworth's managing partner.
