Lovell (pictured) starts at Laity Morrow on 1 July, the same day 14 partners and 44 legal staff from Kelly & Co are due to move across to HWL Ebsworth. Lawyers Weekly exclusively reported in April that both firms voted unanimously in favour of the acquisition.

Laity Morrow was formed late last year by two Johnson Winter & Slattery (JWS) partners, Philip Laity and Kerry Morrow, who said they wanted to concentrate on institutional clients in the Adelaide market.

Lovell worked alongside Laity and Morrow as a senior associate at JWS. He has also held roles with Linklaters in London and King & Wood Mallesons in Melbourne.

“We are looking forward to having Martin working with us once again,” said Laity. “His addition to the team is in line with the growth plans we outlined last year.”

Lovell is a member of the Financial Services Committee of the Law Council of Australia and lectures at Flinders University law school.

Lovell makes three partners at Laity Morrow. The firm also has two additional legal staff.
