HDY loses long-serving partner
A corporate partner who has spent the past 16 years in the Henry Davis York partnership has defected to Holding Redlich.

James Lonie (pictured) has joined Holding Redlich’s corporate and commercial group in Sydney after spending 21 years at HDY. He joined HDY as a lawyer in 1993 and was promoted to partner five years later.
Commenting on his appointment, Lonie said he was attracted to the culture at Holding Redlich. He claimed the firm promotes “a positive and supportive work environment”.
Lonie is the second long-serving partner to leave HDY this year. In February, financial services group head Liz Gray left HDY after 18 years at the firm to join K&L Gates.
HDY is also set lose its leader, Sharon Cook, who has decided to stand down as the firm’s managing partner, a position she has held since 2008.
Just weeks prior to Cook’s revelation, HDY laid off 13 staff in its Sydney office.
