HSF names Melbourne partner as sole global corporate head
Herbert Smith Freehills has appointed an Australian senior partner to head up the firm’s corporate practice globally.

Mike Ferraro (pictured) will step into the role on 1 May 2014, the same day joint-CEOs Mark Rigotti and Sonya Leydecker take up their new positions, and Hong Kong-based partner Justin D’Agostino becomes global head of disputes, Leydecker’s current role.
He currently shares the Global Head of the Corporate title with London-based partner Patrick Mitchell.
Mitchell is taking up a newly-established position as head of the firm’s infrastructure practice in the UK and EMEA. He will work alongside Melbourne-based partner Andrew Clark, who is the head of projects for Australia and Asia.
Leydecker said the management changes “will allow for greater join up across our network”.
The firm has also announced the appointment of Madrid-based partner Alvaro Sainz as head of the corporate practice in EMEA, and “an enhanced leadership role” for the global head of M&A, Stephen Wilkinson.
Wilkinson will now work with the corporate practice heads to drive growth in the M&A practice in the UK, Europe and the US.
