Foley undertook legal training with DA Family Lawyers and then travelled to the UK to undertake child protection work for a local authority.

She then returned to Australia and continued her child protection work with the Department of Communities (Child Safety), in Hague Convention matters, with her most recent case being the highly-publicised case of the four Italian sisters.
