Sparke hires from Mallesons, Norton Rose
Sparke Helmore Lawyers has appointed two new partners to its corporate teams in Perth and Sydney.

Douglas Hall, formerly a senior project finance and banking partner at Norton Rose, and Betsy-Ann Howe, a tax and corporate partner from HWL Ebsworth, join the firm this month.
Betsy Howe (pictured), a tax and corporate lawyer, practices in corporate and international tax, and tax controversy. She was formerly a tax partner at Mallesons Stephen Jaques, as well as Russell McVeagh in New Zealand. She joins the firm from the Sydney office of HWL Ebsworth.
Howe advises on tax issues associated with corporate finance, including asset finance, structured finance and securitisation, as well as the corporate tax issues associated with mergers and acquisitions. She has experience managing tax controversy, including issues arising from audits, disputes and litigation. More broadly, Betsy has advised on employee share purchase schemes, employment-related tax issues, GST and stamp duty.
Howe said she looks forward to building a tax practice at Sparke Helmore.
