Piper Alderman’s Melbourne office has hired a special counsel from rival Maddocks.

Jacquie Browning joins the firm’s national banking and finance, focusing on the agribusiness and property sectors.

The firm said their new lawyer has worked on a number of large financial projects including significant debt refinancing and restructuring transactions, housing developments, land acquisition and development funding for residential, industrial, retirement villages and other commercial projects, as well as financing for agribusiness entrepreneurs in Victoria and Tasmania.

Managing Partner, Tony Phelps, said Browning’s experience in-house and in private practice is a “considerable asset to the firm”. He said her experience in the property and agribusiness sectors will also boost the firm in these areas.

Browning was special counsel at Maddocks, and prior to that was in-house at a big four bank.

She is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Victorian Women Lawyers Association.
