Minter Ellison is moving people out of London and into China in a bid to develop it’s finance capability there.
The firm today announced it has relocated the head of its London finance practice, partner Nigel Clark, to the Beijing office to develop the firm's finance capability in Greater China and Mongolia.
"This appointment follows hot on the heels of the opening of our new office in Ulaanbaatar and the announcement of three new lateral partners in Australia with significant China experience," Minter Ellison's chief executive partner, John Weber, said.
"[He] will work closely with all our offices in relation to the significant deal flow from our China-based clients and to build the firm's relationships with clients with interests in Beijing, particularly our Australian and international banking clients.”
The move is part of the firm’s international strategy to build the regional capacity in Asia. Weber said the firm is focusing on areas when it already has strong client support.
Clark has experience working with clients to back their outbound investments into Europe and Australia.
He joined Minter Ellison in 2001 and has worked in the firm's Sydney and London offices.
The man himself said: "I'm excited about the move and by the opportunity to build our capability and connections on the ground in Beijing.”
