DLA Piper has hired a leading Norton Rose employment lawyer to its partnership in Brisbane.
Murray Procter, who joins his new firm on 27 February this year, specialises in industrial relations and employment law, advising clients in energy and resources, financial institutions, health, human services and government.
The new recruit has practiced employment law across industrial strategy, bargaining and disputes, discrimination, dismissals, workplace health and safety, executive employment including restraint of trade, and workplace investigations.
DLA Piper has labeled the hire a strategic one, and managing partner Tony Holland said he represents another important lateral partner hire in Brisbane, in addition to the five other senior lateral hires in the past six months.
Allan Drake-Brockman, head of workplace relations, employment and safety at the firm, said Procter's background in industrial relations law will be of use given the increase in industrial relations work the firm is seeing as a result of major infrastructure projects in the region.
