HWL Ebsworth has announced the appointment of a former Mallesons Stephen Jaques mergers and acquisitions senior associate to its Sydney practice.

Robert Gibson has joined the firm, and his practice focuses primarily on privately negotiated transactions.

Gibson has experience in advising on, coordinating and managing all aspects of private treaty acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures, corporate restructures, private equity and commercial transactions. He also regularly advises on general corporate and commercial law.

The new partner has acted for leading clients across a range of industries, including funds management, resources, infrastructure, consumer goods, household appliances and food and beverage manufacturing.

“Robert’s arrival further strengthens our rapidly expanding Mergers & Acquisitions capability," said his new firm," said Juan Martinez, managing partner of HWL Ebsworth.

"[His] expertise in leading significant corporate transactions will be a great addition to our practice and we are excited about the opportunities this will create,” he said.

Gibson was at Mallesons for 14 years.
