Russell Kennedy Principal Michael Gorton has been reappointed as a member of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Management Committee for a further three years.

AHPRA is the national organisation responsible for implementing the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme across Australia, in partnership with the 14 National Boards who regulate the health professions.

Gorton, one of the five sitting members to be reappointed, is joined by three new members, increasing the Committee’s membership to eight.

Gorton said he looked forward to continuing his work with AHPRA.

“It’s a great privilege to have been reappointed to this Committee and to have further opportunities to work with APRHA. I look forward to continuing to assist AHPRA to deliver quality and transparent health practitioner regulation, and to promote safety and quality in the delivery of health services for all Australians,” said Gorton.

This reappointment complements his other senior health sector positions. He is the chair of the Victorian Government’s expert health review panel, established to make recommendations on modernising and upgrading the role of the Health Services Commissioner, and chairperson of the Patient Review Panel under Victoria’s IVF regulatory legislation.
