Finlayson joins KWM from Sydney Airport Corporation where he is currently the chief financial officer.

He will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s operations in Australia and will work closely with managing partner Australia Tony O’Malley and the broader leadership team in implementing the firm’s long-term strategic vision.

Announcing the appointment, managing partner, practice and firm, Tim Blue, said KWM was “extremely fortunate” to have someone of Finlayson’s calibre in the role of COO.

“Having a robust and forward-thinking operating model is essential for securing the future success of our firm in this dynamic market,” said Blue.

Finlayson has worked for companies including Sydney Airport, Vodafone Hutchison Australia, Hutchison Telecommunications Australia and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

He replaces Peter Ireland, who is retiring from his role as senior executive director operations, after almost 20 years with the firm.

Ireland will remain as a consultant to the firm so that there is a smooth transition in this role.
