In most court rooms there's usually a certain level of tension in the air but for a man in court for on-going child-support issues, things got a little out of hand.
Agim Demiri was more than $7,600 behind in child support payments to the mother of his two teenage children and was apparently upset about not seeing his children, who live in California.
The final straw came after the judge suspended Demiri's driver's licence for not making the child support payments - which Demiri pointed out would make it harder for him to find work to pay the child support.
Clearly angry with the judge's decision, Demiri threw an egg at the judge but narrowly missed, instead causing $616.78 worth of damage to the courtroom as it splattered against a decorative state seal plaque mounted behind the judge's chair. And Demiri had backup - found with another egg when he was arrested.
At the hearing, Demiri explained that he was angry over the suspension of his licence, but Judge Blanch Hill Fawell said his excuse was rather ironic.
"You understand that it's going to be harder for you to find work now that you're a convicted felon?" the judge said as she sentenced him.
Pleading guilty to a felony count of aggravated criminal damage to state-supported property, Demiri was sentenced to 90 days jail and ordered to pay restitution for the cleanup.
Folklaw thinks this is a nice reminder for those who seem to forget that it's never a good idea to annoy the judge.
