A case against a Polish man has been dropped on appeal 18 months after he was taken to court for allegedly kicking a neighbour's plastic bucket.
The bucket was estimated to have a value of less than six Australian dollars.
Disregarding criticism over the prosecutors' insistence on taking the issue to court, Wilk was found guilty, despite presenting video footage from a mobile phone of his neighbour continuing to use the damaged bucket, and an expert being called in to conduct an experiment assessing whether buckets could be damaged by kicking.
An infuriated Wilk launched an appeal against his conviction in the District Court in Opole, where a clearly weary judge threw the case out, declaring that "it should never have begun".
Folklaw imagines the judge would have preferred to sentence all involved to a good kick in the pants for wasting his time.
