A Brisbane man was left with egg on his face after police nabbed him for stealing 360 eggs, during a random police check just hours after the theft.
Upon noticing the police, Haylock - who was in a Holden Commodore with stolen number plates and the purloined eggs - sped off.
Police prosecutor Carrie Davidson told Brisbane Magistrates Court that the man stole the eggs as well as five kilograms of freshly ground coffee, and then clocked up 100 km/h in a 60km/h zone and ran two red lights in an attempt to evade capture.
"Police attempted to catch up to the vehicle but were unable to do so due to the high speed," she said, reported Australian Associated Press.
Detectives later found the man at his Fortitude Valley residence. He was sentenced on Tuesday to eight months in jail for stealing, entering a premises, committing an indictable offence, dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving without a licence and driving an unregistered vehicle.
The court was told that Haylock recently moved from Western Australia where there are two outstanding warrants for his arrest and authorities are expected to extradite him.
Folklaw is guessing it might be a while until Haylock cooks himself up a nice breakfast of bacon and eggs, washed down with some coffee.
