Queensland compensation law firm Travis Schultz & Partners (TSP) has expanded its team in Cairns with the addition of an associate, who joins from Turner Freeman Lawyers.
Travis Schultz & Partners (TSP) has expanded its North Queensland team with the appointment of Kylie Walmsley as associate lawyer in Cairns.
Most recently an associate at Turner Freeman in Cairns, Walmsley brings six years of personal injury litigation experience, specialising in workplace and motor vehicle injuries, public liability and disability claims.
Her career includes experience in medical negligence cases and advocacy for clients affected by poorly regulated cosmetic procedures. Walmsley was also one of Queensland’s youngest personal injury lawyers to run a Supreme Court trial in a WorkCover claim, when, at 23, she successfully instructed counsel in the case of Longbottom v L & R Collins [2021] QSC 242.
Having grown up in North Queensland, Walmsley said she understands the unique challenges faced by injured workers in the region and added that she was excited to join TSP.
“As a local myself, I know how difficult it can be to navigate the claims process when you’re based outside of a major city and have reduced access to specialists and services. I’m excited to use my experience to help people in the region secure the right medical care and financial support to improve long-term outcomes,” she said.
“TSP stands apart because it genuinely prioritises the best possible outcomes for people rather than treating cases as transactions. I wanted to be part of a team with a strong reputation for excellence that truly cares about the people they represent.”
TSP partner and Cairns Leader Beth Rolton added that Walmsley’s appointment strengthens the firm’s ability to support local clients with specialised, on-the-ground expertise.
“Kylie’s in-depth knowledge of WorkCover claims is invaluable, especially when advising clients at the active treatment stage. Strategic guidance at this point ensures they maximise their entitlements and make informed decisions about their recovery,” she said.
“In North Queensland, injured workers often struggle to access medical specialists and legal advice without travelling long distances. Having a local legal expert like Kylie, who understands these challenges and can provide tailored support, makes a significant difference in achieving fair outcomes for our clients and, ultimately, in their recovery.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Kylie as we continue to strengthen our presence in Queensland. Her expertise, local knowledge and compassionate approach align perfectly with our firm’s values of fairness, respect and expertise.”
