After graduating from the University of Sunshine Coast (UniSC) in 2019, property and commercial lawyer Meg Lucas has joined Thompson Legal as an associate.

Thompson Legal founder Richard Thompson said Lucas is a welcome addition to the team, which has grown from six staff to a team of eleven since opening a year ago.

“I’ve kept track of Meg’s career, and we are very pleased to add her to our expanding team of commercial and property lawyers. Meg’s achieved some fantastic results for a wide variety of clients across property and construction, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, and development projects,” he said.

“Along the journey, she has committed to further study as a legal professional and has also continued to work at her family’s Montville-based business, Lucas Parklands Music and Events Venue, so there’s no denying her strong work ethic. We’ve had encouraging growth since we opened the doors in February last year, we continue to build meaningful relationships with our clients, and adding Meg to the team continues our mission to provide impactful legal services for the community.”

Lucas said her move to Thompson Legal came at a pivotal time in her career and was a decision based on aligned values and shared objectives.

“I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunities and mentorship provided by my previous employers, and now is the time to take the next step in my legal career. Richard shared with me his vision for the firm, and I look forward to working with the entire team to advance our approach to modern legal practice here on the Sunshine Coast,” she said.

“This, in part, is based on the conscious decision to give back and be an active part of the broader community. I also recognise Richard’s approach to practice as similar to my own, providing pragmatic and exceptional legal solutions with old-fashioned client care.”
