Harris & Company has promoted senior associate Jonathan Harris to director, a role equivalent to partner in an incorporated legal practice.

Harris worked at the firm in 2018, before spending a year-and-a half at Bartier Perry. After returning to Harris & Company in 2022 as a senior associate, he has now been elevated to director.

In his new role, he will continue to provide legal services to the firm’s existing clients, while taking on a leadership role where he will manage a team of paralegals and junior solicitors. His focus will remain on corporate, commercial and property transactions.

“This new role is an exciting challenge – one that allows me to grow my own practice while shaping the future of the firm,” Harris said.

"Beyond delivering excellent legal services, I’m looking forward to playing a hands-on role in the bigger picture of running and growing a legal practice.”

The promotion marks an important step in Harris & Company’s continued evolution, according to one of the founding partners, Ian Smith.

“We are very pleased Jonathan accepted our invitation to become a director of the firm. He is a very capable lawyer, well respected by clients and all staff. He has deep knowledge of the law and a good commercial instinct which is important when dealing with most legal issues,” he said.

“We have no doubt that he will continue to grow his practice and play a key role in our ongoing success.”
