Lavan promotes 13 and appoints 4
Western Australia-based full-service firm Lavan has elevated 13 of its lawyers to more senior positions, including three to partner, and has appointed four additional practitioners.
Lavan has kicked off the new year with a series of promotions, elevating three lawyers to partner, one to special counsel, two to senior associate, and seven to associate.
The full-service firm expressed that these promotions reflect its commitment to recognising “professional excellence, legal expertise and dedication to client service”.
Mark Hyde (pictured) has been elevated to partner within the firm’s restructuring and insolvency team after serving as special counsel for over three years. The firm has noted that he is “well recognised” as a senior insolvency specialist and litigator, highlighting his experience managing numerous complex cases for prominent corporate clients.
Sharon Payn (pictured), a member of the firm’s employment, safety, and education team, has been promoted to partnership after serving as special counsel for three years. With a background in commercial firms nationally and internationally and experience as in-house counsel, Payn has gained extensive expertise in all facets of workplace relations.
The full-service law firm also recognised her representation of employers in various tribunals and courts, including the Fair Work Commission and the Federal Court.
Alex McGlue (pictured) has also received a promotion to partner for the firm’s planning and environment team following over 13 years with the firm, where he has served as a senior associate and special counsel.
Dean Hely, a managing partner at Lavan, expressed his confidence in the new three partners, saying: “I would like to take this opportunity to recognise the outstanding contribution our new partners have made to Lavan in senior roles and to congratulate them on joining Lavan’s partnership.
“Mark, Sharon and Alex have consistently demonstrated their commitment to clients and the firm through their strong work ethic and remarkable legal skills. Their promotions are extremely well-deserved, and I am confident that they will continue to make an enormous contribution to Lavan in their new roles as partners.”
Lavan has also promoted Claudie Hughes to special counsel, Grace Coombs and Stefan Pawlak to senior associate, and Emily Byrne, Danielle Wilson, Roderick Gillis, Aleksa Kovacevic, Carlyn Tan, Valentine Pons and Sara Stikic to associate.
Elsewhere, the firm has recently appointed the following: senior associates Kealeigh Barker and Andrea Lie, as well as associates Natasha Clay and Genevieve Mascarenhas.

Each brings invaluable skill, dedication, and expertise to our firm, significantly contributing to our success. I am thrilled to witness Lavan’s continued growth as a leading independent law firm in Western Australia.”
