Hicksons Lawyers has internally promoted four lawyers, Katrina Jenkins, Mish Wijesuriya, Marcus Andersson, and Tayah Stevenson, to senior positions across its various practice groups.

The NSW-based law firm said that these lawyers, who took on their roles on 1 January 2025, have “consistently demonstrated excellence in their legal practice” and embody the “Hicksons values and vision”.

Jenkins has been elevated from special counsel to partner within the worker’s compensation team just over a year after joining the firm.

During this brief period, Hicksons said she has showcased remarkable expertise “in all aspects of workers’ compensation claims”, has successfully “built a strong client base”, and has played a crucial role in “enhancing client satisfaction”.

Reflecting on her promotion, Jenkins expressed her enthusiasm about becoming a partner and continuing to collaborate with talented lawyers to further the firm’s ongoing success.

“I am honoured to join the partnership at Hicksons. I look forward to working alongside such talented lawyers to deliver outstanding results for our clients and to contributing to the future success of the firm,” Jenkins said.

Wijesuriya, who previously served as a senior associate for four years, has been promoted to special counsel in the firm’s real estate and construction team.

The commercial law firm highlighted her strong reputation in property law, where she advises on various matters, including “disposals and acquisitions, projects and development, titling, due diligence, property financing, and commercial, industrial, and retail leasing”.

Andersson, who joined Hicksons in April 2024 as an associate solicitor in the health practice group, has been elevated to senior associate.

The law firm said that Andersson has demonstrated the ability to manage a wide range of medical negligence matters and provide expert legal guidance in litigated and unlitigated civil claims, coronial inquests, and professional conduct matters.

Stevenson has been promoted to senior associate within the firm’s commercial litigation team, having commenced her career as a paralegal in this practice area in 2019.

Her work encompasses various sectors, including “legal profession regulatory authorities, builders and contracts, developers, companies and individuals”.

Stevenson’s contributions have earned her recognition, as she has been named a finalist for both the Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards in 2023 for the Dispute Resolution and Litigation category and the Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards in 2022 for Rising Star of the Year in the BigLaw category.

Cameron Leaver, a managing partner at Hicksons, shared how “it’s inspiring to see the growth and dedication of our team”.

He added: “As we look to the future, these promotions are a testament to our commitment to nurturing talent and delivering the highest level of service to our clients.”
