NDA Law names new director
Adelaide-based boutique commercial firm NDA Law has elevated an associate director to director-level.
Lisa Christo (pictured) is NDA Law’s newest director. She was named as an associate director last year and was a founding member of the firm’s legal team at its inception in Adelaide back in 2015.
The news follows the firm’s appointment of a senior associate from BigLaw player Hall & Wilcox in February of this year.
It also follows managing director Joshua Michaels’ conversation with Lawyers Weekly’s sister brand, Accountants Daily, last month about how and why SME law and accounting firms need to work together more successfully.
Speaking about the appointment, Michaels said that Christo’s promotion was a credit to her outstanding ability as a strategic thinker, and he was looking forward to working together to plan the next steps for the firm.
“Lisa has demonstrated a best-in-class approach with her outstanding operational prowess at NDA Law,“ he said.
“I am just really proud that NDA Law can retain such talent and that we can reward Lisa with the opportunity to help steer the business as a director.
“As a founding team member, she now has more than 10 years’ experience advising SMEs in matters of tax and all commercial operations. Her outstanding leadership ability has had a positive impact on our team and the organisations she works with.
“Lisa’s expertise and business insight will now assist us to establish the direction for 2024–25 and to cement plans for the future.”
Christo added that she was delighted to be able to play a larger role in steering the future direction of the business.
“Despite their expertise, many mid-career lawyers, especially women, can wait a very long time in BigLaw firms to be given the opportunity to take a seat at the C-suite table,” she said.
“I chose boutique law because it provided me with the depth of experience, a chance to build my client management skills faster, and to access the commercial training I needed. I am delighted to have had the chance to learn from the best and rise through the ranks with such valuable mentoring from both Andrea and Joshua Michaels.”
