Former M&A partner and national head of PwC Australia’s legal business, Nick Brown, has joined Kain Lawyers as the firm opens a new office in Melbourne’s financial district.

Brown’s experience spans across M&A, private equity, capital raising, and corporate transactions. He has advised on deals across the retail, automotive, industrial, agricultural, technology and energy sectors, and he has worked at SJ Berwin in London. Brown joins Kain Lawyers as a director.

This news follows the appointment of three directors in March, which saw the firm’s leadership team increase by 20 per cent. One of these directors was Jeremy Collins, who is Melbourne-based and will join Brown at the firm’s new office.

Kain Lawyers managing director John Kain said Brown’s extensive skill set will bolster the firm’s national transactions capability and enhance its effectiveness in providing customised solutions to often complex transaction challenges.

“We are thrilled to welcome Nick to the team, which now includes over 65 professionals across offices in Sydney, Adelaide and now Melbourne. Our consistent growth illustrates the strong appeal of a specialist mid-market transactions firm to both transactional clients and lawyers,” he said.

“In the past five years, we have successfully closed over 300 deals, totalling more than $10 billion. Many of these deals have been based in Melbourne, so our Melbourne office will enable us to better serve our existing clients in this critical capital market.”
