Celia Pitcher (pictured) has joined Thornton + King in its “rapidly expanding” family law practice. She has joined as a partner from Coleman Greig Lawyers.

She currently serves, the firm noted in a statement, on the family law committee at the Law Society of NSW and has spent “much of her career” dealing with complex family law disputes, including those concerning business assets and complex parenting and child support issues.

Thornton + King managing partner Karunn Shahani said: “We’re excited to add another highly regarded accredited specialist to our firm. We have seen an increase from our existing and new clients for family law advice as we expand our private client boutique offering.”

“Specialist accreditation is the hallmark of quality, and Thornton + King is focused on securing accredited specialists for all our service offerings in the boutique private client space.”

The news follows the firm’s acquisition of 100-year-old firm Miller Noyce earlier this year.

This was, Shahani noted, the sixth firm added to its brand under what he called its “unique NewLaw succession model”.

“Acquisitions of firms looking for succession, along with key lateral hires such as Celia Pitcher, have seen our firm grow into new geographies with quality people supporting our client’s needs,” he said.

“We will be looking for more opportunities over the next year.”
