Julie Callea-Smyth (pictured) has joined Rigby Cooke, having come across from Thomsons Lawyers.

She brings, the firm said in a statement, more than three decades of experience specialising in complex litigation and dispute resolution and has acted for small to medium enterprises through to major corporate clients, leading banks and financiers, insolvency practitioners, accountants, and property developers.

The news follows the firm’s promotion of three lawyers to more senior roles in July of last year.

Speaking about the hire, Rigby Cooke managing partner Bill Karvela said: “Julie is a welcome addition to our litigation and dispute resolution and insolvency and reconstruction groups. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the firm, having previously headed up the national banking and finance team at Thomson Geer for many years and successfully managed her large homegrown litigation team in Melbourne for over 14 years.

“Julie’s reputation and expertise will greatly enhance our commercial litigation and insolvency offering, enabling us to respond to the increasing demand from our commercial and private clients for our services.”
