She has, the firm told Lawyers Weekly, a specialty in music law, having spent several years in the music industry prior to joining Marque, as well as general intellectual property matters (trademarks, copyright, and design). She has also been part of the general commercial litigation team working across a wide range of matters across all courts, the firm continued, covering matters from breach of directors’ duties, shareholder oppression and breach of contract to contested estate matters, including breach of fiduciary duties.
Johnsen joined the partnership on 11 April 2024.
Speaking about the promotion, Marque Lawyers managing partner Michael Bradley said: “Emma is an absolute gun litigator and IP specialist, as well as our in-house expert on restaurant and cocktail choices.”
“She is a brilliant addition to our diverse partnership.”
Mattock added: “It was an easy decision for the partners to promote an IP expert and savvy commercial litigator as Emma.”
“The growth of the IP practice at Marque is now assured to continue with Emma’s appointment, as will our ability to follow the success of the East Redfern Tennis Club on the socials (of which Emma is a founding member).”
The promotion means the Sydney-based firm now has 11 partners.
